Nathan’s Explorer Day

This is NOT Nathan!

This is Vasco De Gama!

He had to dress up like his explorer and give a presentation.

THEN 22 of us moms came in the afternoon.  We divided the kids into groups of 4 or 5 and took them on a scavenger hunt.  Each group had a map of the school and playground outside.  The map was assigned various answers to clues they had been studying with their explorers unit like, (Spice Islands, Magellan, Silk Road…)  There were 22 different locations each with the next clue and a gold coin.  Each group started at a different location and then chased around trying to answer and find all the clues.  The four teachers were dressed up as pirates and would harass the students by stealing coins and parts of their costumes.  It was so much fun!!!  And what an awesome way to review all of the important aspects of their explorer studies, while navigating around using a map.  At the very end, each student was given a bag of chocolate coins.
