Camping

My dad has a fifth wheel and is always wanting to go camping.  Each of us kids try and go with him each summer.  Well, I told him, “Let’s go over Labor Day Weekend”.  I thought that would be perfect considering schedules and also beautiful since the leaves are changing.  Did I mention that my dad has a fifth wheel and we have a tent?!?  The kids that slept in the fifth wheel with grandma and grandpa were just fine.  The kids in the tent with Stephen and I FROZE, almost to death.  I might be a little dramatic here, but it sure felt like it!

We went over Friday afternoon.  The first night we made s’mores Uncle Keith’s way, with the striped chocolate cookies and roasted marshmallows.  Rebecca will demonstrate this type of s’more.

Jacob will demonstrate just the good old roasted marshmallow.

Ashley will show how cold we really were that night.

Grandma of course can come up with scarey stories for the campfire.

After waking up every 10 minutes thinking that it should be morning, it FINALLY was and I quickly suggested we start hiking to get warmed up!  So here are a few of the hiking pictures.

And see this blind man …

He was healed and could walk!!!

Camping7ED Grandma had the kids make and do a little boat race under the bridge.  Of course Rebecca’s had to have a wildflower wedged into it.

Everyone had to have a walking stick.  Jerrica had grabbed this little pipe from dad’s trailer.  He was like, “She shouldn’t be using that”  I told him, “Oh dad I will keep track of it”.  Then when we got home and he was draining his sewer system I realized what his little pipe was for and why she really shouldn’t have been using it.  Here she is with it!

We found lots of bones on our hike which brought out lots of creativity with what they came from and how they died.

We also ran up to drive by Uncle Kevin’s cabin.  Ate a lot of yummy food on the campfire and in the dutch oven.  We played games and did puzzles.  Made these with sticks and yarn.

But when evening came around and dad was ready to stay, I just couldn’t!  It was toooooo cold and I just couldn’t do it ANOTHER night!  It’s good that their house is close by!!!

have i told you yet that i love your family? this is so neat that you guys can run down for a weekend and that they're so involved with the kids! love it! such a fun weekend! you need to get one of those little portable heaters. i'm not "allowed" to use it except in the morning but it sure does help me wake up! jace cranks it up to warm up the tent just before waking everyone up...it takes the chill off!
