Thompson Reunion – Indian Dance

So this year it was Stephen’s turn to be in charge of the reunion. I was a bad wife and didn’t really help him because he was stubborn and didn’t want to do any of my ideas. He did an incredible job though! It was all centered around an Indian theme.

On Wednesday night we all met at a KOA just outside of Mesa Verde. Stephen had dinner cooking for everyone in a crock pot as we drove and then finished cooking it there at the KOA. It was SOOO nice to have the dinner basically ready that night. Everyone set up their tents and then we headed over to this Indian Dance.

The Indians regalia was amazing with all of the colors. Not only did they have feathers, but they also had porcupine quills and otter fur. They earn various parts and accessories of their regalia.

By the way, did you know why the Indians were here in America first? They had “reservations”! There were plenty of little jokes that the boys really enjoyed.

Here is the whole family. The little girl was the same age as Jerrica.

After the dancing we went back to our little camp and made “Kick the Can Ice Cream” We had to use flashlights to see, but sure enjoyed how yummy it was! This is one of our family’s favorite summer time desserts. I was surprised that a lot of Stephen’s family hadn’t heard of it. Here is the recipe, (click on it so that you can see and print it) If you haven’t ever made this, you are missing out!
