Random October

I did Halloween lunches again.  For the dessert I stuck some googley eyes into the middle of the donut holes.  They looked really cute, the pictures don’t do them justice.

My basketball group dressed up for Halloween ball.  I couldn’t quit laughing the entire time that I was playing.

The little girls and I went to a giant pumpkin contest in Old Colorado City

The big girls did a SOCO season on the same team.  It was wonderful having one practice and one game for two girls.

Rae Rae won a little indoor soccer round robin against 54 other girls.  It was set up Dutch style.

Jacob went on his first date.  I didn’t get a picture.  He doubled with Hampton.  Jacob was nervous, and his date sure was cute!

More than Expected

I recently was volunteering at the elementary school.  I sat in the back doing my task at hand and the teacher started asking various kids “are you doing more than what is expected of you?”   I peered up and noticed these students then start to clean up their area, or add more detail into their project that they were working on.

The phrase “are you doing more than what is expected” stuck with me for the rest of the day.  It’s usually easy to complete what is expected of you, but giving MORE is a bit harder.  It involves more time and commitment.

I went home and started laundry and my endless cleaning.  As I completed each chore I would think to myself of that phrase, “am I doing more than what’s expected”.  I was amazed at how adding just a bit more really made a difference.  Instead of just dinner, I had made a dessert.  Instead of making a bed, a kind note was left on a pillow.

I did just a little more than what was expected of me and the day was A LOT more than what I had expected it to be!

I know that this can be applied in so many different aspects of life.  In my work outs, can I do just a little more?  My body sure would benefit if I did.  Spiritually if I gave just a little bit more than expected, I once again would benefit.  It’s not just me that benefits, it’s also all of those around me.

Grateful for that teacher’s little reminder and push!

Are you doing more than what is expected of you?  I challenge you to do more and see what happens!

Spider Magnets

The girls made the cutest magnet spiders over the weekend.  They started out using THIS tutorial for pompom spider bookmarks.  Yet somehow they morphed into cute magnets.

Spiders

They were going to hang them in their lockers at school.  Key word is “were”.  They are all over my fridge, keeping my kitchen nice and Halloweeny.

My Little Angel

Sleep6

Jerrica and Emily in their matching PJ’s.  I have always loved how soft and angelic Jerrica’s little face is when she sleeps.  There is just such a peace about her.

Tonight as I snapped this picture I realized that my baby is getting bigger.  She is more independent.  She mothers that doll more than she lets me mother her!  I really don’t like how quickly time flies.

Denver Date with Rebecca

We started out with Kaylee and her friend with us.  Kaylee had a really early morning game in Longmont.  Kaylee then went on home with friends.

K Soccer

Rebecca and I played together at halftime during Kaylee’s game.

Me and Bec

We then went and did a little shopping together in Denver.  After which we headed to Cafe Rio for lunch together.

We then went over to the temple to walk around and see the pretty Fall leaves around it.  While we were there we saw Aunt Jodee, Uncle Jim, and Spence with his new wife.  It was fun to chat for awhile.

As we were leaving the parking lot, I noticed this beautiful shot out of my window, and couldn’t resist snapping one more picture…

@Temple40  Then we headed over to Rebecca’s game.  She had the most incredible assist.  She was doing all these fancy moves and drawing more and more defense on her.  Then she did a step over move, chipping it to a teammate that was wide open.  It was sweet!

Look at all of the gorgeous Fall leaves in the backdrop.

We headed home laughing and Rebecca snapping pictures of any Fall color we could find.  Beautiful day with my Beautiful Becca!

Randomness

I LOVE all of the sweet emails and messages I get!  You guys always make my day when I get one!

A couple of questions to answer.  I blog using Windows Live Writer.  I use a larger than normal font because I have family that read my blog that appreciate a little bit bigger font for their older eyes.  :)

I AM on Instagram and would LOVE to have you follow me.  I’m boring and have the same mymixofsix as my username.  Yes you can follow me!  :)

Denver Broncos are unstoppable!  Who is going to step up to beat them?  I love snuggling up on a cold night with a good game.

Football3

We are baking up Fall desserts around here.  Pie is just divine, as is this cake from Pinterest.  Anything with Heath bits is divine!

The girls did makeovers one night.  They did this coconut oil treatment on their hair.  Aunt Kristy had to walk us through it.  Their hair was so shiny and soft afterwards.

Coconut2 My girls also made these cute iron bead bowls.  I see them in their rooms filled with treasures, earrings, and coins.

Iron Beads

Yes this is all random, but it all fit in ONE post!  :)

It’s Over

I always get sad when things are over.  The frost moved in and the garden is to bed for the winter.  We had an incredible harvest of tomatoes this year.  I canned four different batches, gave away baskets full, and fed my family tomatoes every day.

We gathered in bouquets this Fall to enjoy the flowers just a little longer.

 Flowers

I did get a couple of patches of garlic planted the first of October.  I cook with garlic A LOT!  There are so many different varieties and they just give that zing I need to my meats and dinners.

Garlic

What I like about garlic is that as I’m harvesting the other, I can still be planting.

I’m sad gardening is over!  Bring out the good books and sewing projects, the cold weather is calling me to snuggle up.

Volleyball

Kaylee’s volleyball is over.  She is sad because some of her friends are just starting with their schools.  That would have been fun if she could have played them.

She played middle defender and would take the first hit.  I would sit there smiling at my little Kaylee digging those hard hit balls.  The little girls came to most of the games with me.  They would sit there smiling with their concession stand treats.

Love this shot after Kaylee made an incredible play.

Number 5 is Kess.  Kaylee and Kess have been friends since 1st grade.  They are so silly and giddy with each other.  It was fun to see them play together.  Kess plays club volleyball and is AMAZING!

What a fun season!  Sad it’s over so soon.  :(

Las Vegas

Oh my goodness, I laughed so hard by cheeks and stomach hurt.  I felt like we were kids again.

Vegas

We went up to the temple.

Saw the view late one night on top of the Statosphere.

Vegas102

We shopped a bit, and did M&M World.

Vegas21

We got all fixed up and went to the show La Reve.  We had a double suite at Tahiti Village.  Kristy was getting ready in one bathroom, and I in the other.  When we both came out we realized that we were wearing the SAME skirt.

Vegas13

Vegas4

Doug and Bethany met us for dinner and the show.

Vegas8

We went and played Bingo one afternoon.  We were the clueless ones with the papers and blotters.  Everyone else had these fancy electronic boards.  We giggled and would get mad as all these strangers kept winning.  It was hard figuring out all of the Bingo configurations and which sheet we were on.

Then near the last round DAD won a big money round!  He said Bingo kind of soft and Keith yelled out louder, “my dad just got Bingo”.  Sure enough he won, and the rest of the day mom kept saying, “dinner is on your dad…. this treat is on your dad… breakfast is on your dad”.  I don’t think he left with any of his winnings.  :)

Vegas19 Don’t we look like we are struggling a bit…

Vegas20We checked out all of the crazies one night on Fremont Street.

Vegas23

 Vegas34

We pretended like we were in New York.

Vegas24 Vegas25

We pretended like we could hold up our brother, but we needed our other sister, Tanya to help us! :)  Tanya we missed YOU!!!!

Vegas36

We had fun with a birthday celebration for Keith at Denny’s one morning.

Vegas30

Kristy and I went without our spouses.  They were home tending kids and working to pay for our fun trip.  So Kristy and I hung together.  Here we are kicked back at the USO in the Las Vegas airport.  We had our feet up in the recliners in the movie room watching Steel Magnolias, eating treats, and giggling so much that we were probably annoying everyone around us.

 Vegas31 Vegas32

Vegas ROCKED!  So many fun memories that I will treasure forever!  Thanks for planning all of it Keith!  AND thanks for sharing your winnings Dad!
