It was definitely a hiking weekend for Labor day weekend! We headed down to my parents the next day. Dad had just bought a new fifth wheel that we needed to check out.We also wanted to explore the beautiful Conejos Canyon.
First was a game of Clue with grandma in the new fifth wheel.
Injury prone Nathan got a huge black eye after getting hit with a frisbee. He was killing us this weekend! (Actually maybe killing himself!)
Chilling in the evening with Grandma Charla on her swing.
Evening games in the backyard…
The next day was up in the canyon. Skipping rocks across the river…
Some took off their shoes on the side, others left theirs on, and still others LOST their shoes in the river. UGH!!!!
The water was cold so the kids did the “stick your legs straight out so they don’t touch the water” float.
The kids are always faster than I am. They scampered up to the waterfall first. As I was climbing along the rock edge, I noticed Nathan’s soccer ball tucked safely there along the rocks. It literally goes EVERYWHERE with him as you can see from all of this weekend’s pictures!
Absolutely one of my favorites of the big girls!
Quick soccer pose before we head down. Kind of surprised that he doesn’t kick it off the mountain on our hikes.
Ashley couldn’t resist and had to climb in right before we headed back down.
Kaylee snapped a picture of my sweet Stever and me.
The waterfall is SUPER loud. Kaylee tried to portray the noise of it in this picture.
Ashley’s shirt says, “If you are Happy then….” and on the back it has the list. She got sad about something so we started reading her shirt to her. When we got to the last one and she did it, I think every bear in those mountains could hear her!
Pick ax Nellie, found the best tool of the day. She was chopping everything in sight!
Such a fun relaxing day! Dad took us out to lunch at a little Mexican restaurant and then we headed home to start school and work again. I think it should ALWAYS be a three day weekend. There is too much to do!
