We enjoy a good game around here. There is just something about strategy, winning, cheating, laughing, snacking,…. that makes it so much fun.
The kids always beg for me to play. I think it’s because they know they can beat me.
Today, my good friend, Trenya gave me a list of their favorite games. I’m getting antsy for Christmas and some new games that I CAN beat my kids at. Thanks for the suggestions Trenya!
Do any of you have a family favorite?

I work with after school programs and some of our favorites are Mastermind (such a fun and cheap game if you don't have it!!), Rummikub, and clue. My kiddos love games were you have to really problem solve
We used to play Stratego or Speed in rounds as a family to decide who had to do Sunday dishes... it was super fun/bonding/productive all at the same time.
Pictureka is a really fun one. There is no reading involved, so even the little ones can join in the fun!
BLINK is a favorite, but I know that your family already has it.

Can you tell us the suggestions that your friend Trena had?

Our favorite family games are Bang! and Bohnanza, which are actually card games. My seven-year-old can team up with someone on those, but can't really play herself without help, so her favorite family games that she can handle on her own are Shear Panic and Igloo Pop. We all enjoy Parcheesi, even the 7 yr. old.
Another fun one that plays quickly is For Sale. Lost Cities is great for two players. Chocolate Fix is one that everyone likes, and it's a one player game, which is great for the times when one kid wants to play a game but no one else wants to play.
Wasgij (jigsaw spelled backwards) puzzles are a fun twist if you enjoy doing puzzles. The picture on the box is not the picture when the puzzle is completed. Instead, the picture on the completed puzzle is what someone in the picture on the box sees from their perspective.
I find lots of fun games by browsing on funagaingames.com, but I sometimes purchase the games cheaper elsewhere.
Two of our other favorites are still Ticket to Ride and Settlers of Catan, but I know you already know about those, Shauna.
we have two that we're enjoying...the best one for the kiddos though is called Telestrations...a combo of pictionary/telephone, etc. the more that play the better 6+ is the perfect amount...and even our youngest can play. the other one is called 7 Wonders...a little tougher for the little kiddos but they team up with the adults...it's a good history/strategy type game
We also love For Sale!
If you need a quick game that everyone can play...we love Set and Spot It(two different games)also.
Pirate's Cove and Puerto Rico are other favorites for our family but are a little more involved.
We are totally addicted to Ligretto. The whole family loves it, especially the 4 yr old. He actually beat us once last week and crowed like crazy when he did! We also love Blink.
I love this shot.
RISK = Awesome.
My kids love In a Pickle. Not a great adult game, but it's fun for me to hear the way their minds think.
"iMaginiff" is definitely one of our family's favorites - what's great is alot of people can play and great for all ages. It's fun seeing how the family perceives each other. We even made # cards and a used another marker for more players when we had extended family over.
