While we were on our trip I bought postcards for the kids to write to themselves. Then when we arrived home they had mail AND had great picture postcards complete with their own journaling of the trip. I smiled today as Rebecca was taping hers into her journal.
I wish that I would have bought more postcards in other states for them to write on as we were driving. When you drive that far, you need plenty of activities to do!

I love this and have been doing it myself for a while. It is a great way to remember trips, especially for those of us who do not journal much. Another great way to learn about the world and get mail - postcrossing.com
It is a free service (minus the cost of postage) in which you send postcards to people in other countries and then you receive postcards from someone too! For you teachers out there, this is a great way to integrate social studies with writing. Here's hoping your mailbox is happy today!
