The Crags

It was a busy day!  We did the balloon festival in the morning.  A five and a half mile hike in the afternoon.  A trip to the ER for stitches on Nathan.  Then a movie at the dollar theater to see How to Train your Dragon 2.

Absolutely LOVE hiking!  Nature is beautiful, but even more beautiful as you are surrounded by sweet family conversation.  Here was our hike …

Can you see my boys in this next picture?

So I was trying to keep it a cheap weekend and do free things.  Nathan kept climbing and parkouring everything he could.  I was constantly telling him to quit dinking around.  Sure enough he slipped and fell six feet onto a boulder and split his shin open.  SO grateful he didn’t hit his head or break his leg!  HOWEVER, it was so deep he had to get stitches.  ER does not equate with a free weekend.  :/

Balloon Festival

Labor day always means the balloon festival.  This is the last year that Colorado Springs is hosting it so it was PACKED with people.  Still enjoyed the beautiful sunrise, bright balloons and yummy cinnamon rolls.

We are sure going to miss this tradition!  Not necessarily the waking up early part though!

Imagination Celebration

We took the girls one Saturday to the Imagination Celebration down town.  Jake was at a swim meet and Nathan at a soccer tournament in Vail.  The girls LOVED all of the crafty activities.

County Fair

One afternoon when all of the older ones had friend things going on I carted the little girls and a couple of friends down to Calahan to the fairgrounds.

The favorite part was the petting zoo hands down!  We spent forever in there touching and feeding the animals.  They were mesmerized by watching them eat off of those little shovels.  After all of that feeding, they thought that they needed to feed themselves with snow cones.

American Girl Doll Crafts

My little girls spend hours making things for their dolls.  They sit and watch youtube videos on how to make stuff.  Then they scavenge around the house to construct their projects.

Ashley is the queen of this!

Here is a chair she made out of an oatmeal can.  She was SO proud when she brought it in to show me.

  AG Craft7

As I was picking up Jerrica’s room I noticed all of these little treasures …

AG Craft

A little mini newspaper filled with glued on food products on all the pages, then some “CD’s” made out of washers.  The last is an ice cream sundae made out of a water bottle.  It looks like they cut the bottom of a water bottle and then used the top of it inverted.

I smile at the mini colored pencils made out of toothpicks and ALL of the other mini things they have made out of household objects.  They are crafters for sure!!!
