What a long weekend! We all stayed up way to late and are now way too grouchy!!
Friday night we went with the Mumma’s to see the fireworks at the Sky Sox Stadium. The baseball game went until 11:00pm and thus we didn’t get home until midnight. I couldn’t believe that ALL of my kids stayed awake and saw the fireworks.
Then Saturday morning we woke up early to go up to the parade in Monument. They handed out candy, which made the kids happy.
We thought that it was funny how they handed out toothbrushes as well.
The parade is VERY long. My favorite by far was the hillbilly train. Does that say something about the parade?!?
We then headed over to the Webb family’s for a BBQ. Stephen and Blaine had to use umbrellas to BBQ because of all the afternoon rain. Kaylee and Rebecca made a little fourth fruit kabob that Kaylee is displaying below.
Heilala made a fun flag sheet cake that had whip cream with berries. There were blueberries in the upper corner and then rows of raspberries and strawberries to make the red stripes of the flag. After we ate, visited, and played, we had a little piano recital.
Their four kids play and so do our four older kids so it was fun to listen to them. AND it’s always good for them to play in front of a group. Can you see from this picture that I do have a tendency to get a little too “matchy”?! But hey, it’s the Fourth of July!
We then headed home in the rain, praying that it would stop so that we could do a few of our own fireworks. Then just as it was starting to get dark and time for the kids to go to bed, the rain subsided for a few minutes. We were able to do a few fireworks. The kids loved the SPARKLERS as usual!!
Humor me with my photography experiment. I focused on Ashley instead of the sparkler in the above photo and then below I focused in on the sparkler instead of Ashley. I think it creates such a different perspective depending on what you focus on!
Anyway, WE are exhausted today and I’m so glad that it’s Sunday so that we can REST!!!
Shauna, you are such an amazing photographer. You do such a fantastic job of catching your family's fun personalities. I love reading your blog!!
