My Dancer

Ashley has always LOVED to perform.  Tonight was the dress rehearsal for an upcoming recital.  She is in the Spanish dance.

 

I thought that tonight would be perfect one on one time with her.  However, as soon as Katelyn was in sight, I was not needed.  She was in heaven with the costumes, make-up, running around backstage, and playing with friends.  Not to mention being on stage with the lights and all attention on her!

 

I on the other hand was able to catch up with a sweet friend that I haven’t visited with since the Nutcracker last December.

Someday Broadway may have my Ash, but today she is mine!

Hiking Friends

I have a group of friends that I have known for years.  They are the kind of friends that you can talk about anything and everything with.  Not only do my legs get a work out from our hikes, but my abs get a work out from all of the laughter.

We have done quite a few different hikes.  This next one was out at the paint mines.  They decided it would be fun to head out to the prairie, “country style” with curlers, housecoats and boots.

Succulent Gardens

The big girls and I decided to make little gardens for their rooms.  We first headed to the thrift store to pick out a container.  We had tons of different options.  So many unique containers and dishes that could be used.  However, they both chose these two wooden bowls.

We then headed to Lowe’s and picked up a few different succulent plants.  They had a huge selection!  Each plant was different with colors, shapes, and textures.

 

They turned out SO cute and make a perfect addition to the girls’ rooms.  Super fun project with the girls planting and creating!

Nathan’s Birthday

To start Nathan’s birthday I texted a ton of family members telling them today was his birthday and to text him.  I wanted his phone blowing up with Happy Birthdays!

Shortly after I sent the text out, Nathan was all, “Mom don’t give my number out to everybody” “Mom, why are you doing this to me, it’s my birthday!?!?”  I was like EXACTLY it’s your birthday and you need to feel the love!  In the end he loved the attention (I think).  :)

He has been dying to get these Nike indoor soccer shoes.

    

Stephen and I picked him up at school and took him to lunch.  He requested a layered cake and poppy seed ham sandwiches for dinner.

The night of his birthday he enjoyed a movie that was AWESOME, according to him.

Sure love this boy and his funny personality.  He is still in love with soccer and has the ball constantly at his foot.  Music is another must have at all times.  Sure love you Nathan!

My Window Washer

Years ago when we were newlyweds, I went to a Pampered Chef party.  I came home with my heart set on the food chopper.  Stephen took one look at the price and let me know that any time I wanted anything chopped, he would be my chopper.

I was upset that he wouldn’t let me buy the chopper and would request him to “be my chopper” any time I needed ANYTHING chopped.  I knew this would annoy him, but it didn’t. 

Over the years I have told him that he needs to have someone come aerate our lawn, and the next thing I know he has gotten an aerator and is going to town in our backyard.  Same thing would happen with the brakes on our van, or broken dishwasher.  He just works hard and fixes it himself.

Well, last week I mentioned that the window washer hasn’t been by for a while, which is actually ‘him’.  A day later I see this buff window washer cleaning my windows …

Our great room has HUGE windows that are two stories high, so washing windows at our house is NOT for the faint of heart. 

I kept smiling all afternoon as I would look through my clean windows, and as I would see the hot guy that was cleaning them.

I am so grateful for the hard worker that Stephen is.  He quickly helps with this or that and in so doing saves his hard earned money for our family.  I am blessed to have him for my husband!  Love you Stever!

My Birthday

My birthday has come and gone.  I LOVE my birthday because it is always filled with so many sweet friends and family.  I actually get depressed when it’s over.

My parents came up for the day.  Ashley helped my mom wrap my gift.  As she handed it to me she told me, “mom, this is going to be a tear jerker for you”.  I opened it up and sure enough started crying.

My grandma Jackie had this by her chair and it was the last project she was working on when she died.  Mom had grandma’s friend finish the last little bit up.  Oh how I love my grandma Jackie and what a treasure this is!  What an example to me of having projects right up to the end!

I also received a few more homemade projects.  Jerrica made me a pot holder that is “filled with Spring colors” as she says.

My fashion diva made me a feather necklace with beads.  She knows how to accessorize!

  

So the birthday is officially over and I’m another year older and wiser!  I really shouldn’t be depressed that it’s over because I still have quite a few birthday lunch dates with friends on the calendar.  It’s actually a month long celebration!  :)
