Thompson Sign

I’ve had a lot of emails and questions about this and thought that it would just be easier to do a post with details instead of replying to each email.

I used the large size poster board from Wal-Mart and cut out letters using the full sheet.  That way each letter would be in uniform size.  I took all the pictures outside to have continuity to the picture.  Then in Photoshop I changed them to a sepia tone to keep all the color the same.  I also “dodged” the letter just a little to bring it out.

You really could do a number of words to get just the right number of letters that you need.  You could do the words- love, family, your family name, forever…

Gifts

One last thing I would suggest would be to have those doing it wear dark clothes so that the letter stands out.

  12. Ok, this is an awesome idea...I wish I had seen it long ago since mothers day is tomorrow...it is definitely going down as a Christmas gift. Anyway, I do have a question, how did you get the pictures all together? Are they individual pictures put together in the frame? If so, what size? Or did you have them printed as one long panoramic pic? Love this idea!!!

  26. I love this. I've been waiting all year to do it. I'm doing it for each set of parents and just got all the pictures for one set done today. My brother is stationed in Germany and the rest of us are in FL. This is perfect. :)

I'm also curious how you framed it. The best option I see is Mpix that does a 5X30 print and frame. I think this will be perfect for the "Our Family" one, but not sure sure for the last name one that has 6 letters.

  27. Hi! I'm making this with my cousins for our grandparents for Chirstmas! Just curious about the size of your pictures and how you printed it as one picture? Thank you! :)

  28. I printed them as 4x6's and then just put them all next to each other.

    Good luck with your project!
